Poorna Tiffins - HYD

My favourite meal of the day is breakfast. It's the time when one is truly hungry after an at-least 12 hour break from food. I also feel breakfast dishes seem healthier and lighter than any other meal. Even if its a ghee laden dosa or syrupy pancakes. I guess one savours the taste so much in hunger that everything else (calorie counting) is forgotten.

I'm always on the look out for good breakfast places and Poorna Tiffins was a place recommended by a number of people. It's a favourite haunt after a night of drinking and dancing. If you are still up after all that, then you go to Poorna Tiffins for an early morning breakfast fix and get back home for a sound sleep!

After multiple attempts of trying to keep my friends up so that we could go eat here, I finally found 2 who were willing. Why is it important to stay up? If you are not a morning person, who can easily wake up at 5.30 for breakfast and reach Poorna Tiffins by 6 to get the fast moving breakfast, then you might not get any food here. They are so popular that their breakfast gets over by 8AM on a busy weekend. Now you don't want that, do you?

So we diligently reached Poorna Tiffins even before it opened and patiently waited for them to bring out the first batches of their famed idlis, vadas and dosas.

The idlis were soft and melt in the mouth. They pour several spoons of ghee on the idli which enhances its taste and the melt in the mouth feeling. The accompanying chutneys - coconut peanut (white) and tomato (red) - were as good and spicy, just the way I like it.

We tried the plain and the upma dosa. Slightly crisp and though it doesn't look as ghee laden but tastes like it. The upma is well spread on the dosa and tastes good with the chutneys.

These are fresh out of the oil. Not the best vadas I've had, but if you like vada don't give it a miss either. They are decently crisp on the outside and soft inside with bits of green chillies, mustard and ginger.

All in all, was a good breakfast and I got a good sleep after this meal. So do try it if you are looking for a simple, tasty end for your night and a start for your day.
